With students and faculty of the highest caliber and a unique climate of transdisciplinary collaboration, we are poised to unlock the potential of scientific progress to address the most pressing challenges that we face today. ISR is an ideal place to bring together key stakeholders across the University of Michigan, the United States, and the world to reimagine the way we think about, conduct, and implement research.

  • Build connections among silos: Incentivize collaborative research to bring U-M scholars together across disciplines. Expand research partnerships with other universities, governments, and nonprofits, both locally and globally, to build an effective network around the unique resources and expertise we offer.
  • Make research findings more useful: Create impactful bidirectional information flow by teaching social scientists how to communicate their research findings with adjacent fields and the general public and teaching community advocates how to use ISR data to inform and achieve their goals.
  • Form collaborative partnerships with research participants: Increase community involvement in research and create collaboration to ensure scholarly findings are translated into actionable information for the benefit of research participants. Create meaningful impact at the local, regional, national, and global scale.
