Albert Hermalin

BIO

Dr. Hermalin is currently involved in studying older age mortality and health in Asia. He has also done extensive research on fertility using multi-level analysis. In partnership with Ron Freedman, Hermalin shaped the Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practice (KAP) surveys on family planning in Taiwan, and used those surveys to investigate population trends. His interest in population aging and Asia led to a comparative study that earned a MERIT Award from the National Institute on Aging, and to the publication of "The Well-Being of the Elderly in Asia," The University of Michigan press, 2002.
