Project Summary

This project is for the participation of the United States in the 2016-17 cycle (wave 7) of the World Values Survey (WVS). The WVS was initiated in 1981 with substantial leadership from the United States and with support from the National Science Foundation. Over the last 36 years, the WVS has been an important source of information about human values, beliefs, and aspirations in 90 countries, reflecting more than 90% of the world's population. It continues to be a major source of information in public policy debates about the state of human values in the world and it is often cited in debates in the U.S. Congress, the European Parliament, and governmental bodies throughout the world. This request would allow the conduct of a survey of a national probability sample of 2,500 U.S. adults and the integration of the U.S. data into the international archive.
