Midlife Health in Japan (MIDJA) and the U.S. (MIDUS)-Supplement
PI, Jiyoung Park, Ph.D., at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst proposes to participate in the Project, Midlife health in Japan (MIDJA) and the U.S. (MIDUS), by analyzing the data and writing up a series of papers that will focus on examining the role that culture (in conjunction with other macro-social conditions such as social status and gender) plays in shaping health correlates of psychosocial processes. She will address this issue by analyzing biological health variables available in the MIDUS/MIJDA datasets, including biomarkers of inflammation (interleukin-6, c-reactive protein), cardiovascular malfunction (systolic blood pressure, the ratio of total-to-HDL cholesterol), stress physiology (diurnal cortisol responses), and uric acid.
