ICPSR Director issues statement on continued support to data community amid global Coronavirus battle

March 19, 2020

Dear ISR Community,

ICPSR is committed to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace for our employees and helping our data community to do the same. As a digital repository, our operations continue without interruption. We will continue to accept data for deposit, to share data via our website and virtual data enclave, and to support our data users at [email protected].

We have advised ICPSR employees to work from home through the end of March, in an effort to reduce the risk of exposure and spread of viruses within our office and our surrounding communities. Due to the nature of our work, we expect operations to run smoothly and productively. We ask for your patience as we adapt to this new way of working with each other.

One change to our normal operations will be the temporary closure of ICPSR’s physical enclave for restricted data. This is the enclave located in our building. This closure affects approved restricted-use data users with appointments only through the end of March. We have already contacted impacted data users.

We are in the process of contingency planning for the 2020 ICPSR Summer Program in Quantitative Research Methods. As this is an evolving situation, frequent announcements will be communicated regarding the status of workshops and courses. Please refer to the Summer Program website for updates. Note that registration for the program continues to be open.

For those of you who are now teaching or studying online, we have provided a single entry point for ICPSR’s resources to help you continue in your important work.

We appreciate the trust that you place in ICPSR. We will continue to closely monitor the situation and take actions necessary to help keep our employees and our data community safe while providing the data services and training you need to advance science.

Sincerely,

ICPSR Director Maggie Levenstein
