ANN ARBOR — Representatives of the Institute for Social Research welcomed guests to a reception at the Population Association of America’s (PAA) annual meeting in New Orleans on April 13. More than 200 students, faculty members, and friends gathered to meet colleagues and share new and exciting ideas sparked by the conference.

ISR director Kate Cagney, Population Studies Center (PSC) director Sarah Burgard, and Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR) director Maggie Levenstein co-hosted the gathering, marking the second consecutive year the event has been able to take place following the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We were excited to host another gathering at the PAA conference this year,” said Cagney. “We hope that everyone who attended enjoyed it and will find ongoing value through the ideas sparked here, as well as the new collaborations, enhanced resource sharing, multidisciplinary connections, and the deeper ties through our universities.”

The reception was just a part of ISR’s active role at the conference. Affiliated ISR researchers presented dozens of papers over the course of the four-day event, in addition to hosting booths throughout the conference touching on a wide range of ISR focus areas and studies.
