Fulbright Student joins ISR to Study Aging at HRS

ANN ARBOR – Irish Fulbright Student Awardee Dr. Claire Potter will be traveling to the Institute for Social Research (ISR) to further her studies in 2023.
A second year PhD student in the Centre of Public Health at the Queen’s University Belfast, Dr. Potter’s research involves studying life-course impact of stress and negative psychological experiences on biological and cognitive aging across aging cohorts. As a Northern Ireland Cohort for the Longitudinal Study of Ageing (NICOLA) colleague, she will join the longitudinal Health and Retirement Study (HRS) at ISR, gaining additional technical and analytical skills to develop long standing collaborations with global aging researchers. She comes as a Specialty Trainee in General Adult and Old Age Psychiatry and ICAT Fellow in Queen’s University Belfast.

The HRS is a longitudinal panel study that surveys a representative sample of approximately 20,000 people in America, supported by the National Institute on Aging and the Social Security Administration. Through unique and in-depth interviews, the HRS provides an invaluable and growing body of multidisciplinary data that researchers can use to address important questions about the challenges and opportunities of aging.
