At ISR, we are leaders in both traditional and innovative approaches to social science research methodology. We are ideally positioned to examine reality from both a self-reported perspective (surveys, interviews, focus groups) and an observational perspective (big data, observable behavior), allowing us to bridge the gaps between diverse methodological approaches to paint a more complete picture of social processes and effects.
Together we can…
- Explore new frontiers: Understand uses and implications of the rapid expansion of artificial intelligence in society and in research, and understand the opportunities and challenges of leveraging the internet to advance science. Innovate at the forefront of methodological advancement to seize new opportunities.
- Harness big data: Provide leadership in how social scientists engage with big data, including ensuring ethical procurement and use of information. Integrate social scientists into STEM projects that are using big data to ensure researchers are asking the most impactful questions.
- Lead survey research: Enhance participation in social surveys, discover mechanisms to make public opinion polling more effective and trustworthy, and demonstrate the ongoing value of surveys as a scientific tool.
- Enhance inclusion in research: Develop more inclusive research methods to enhance the representativeness and value of research findings in a diverse social world.
