BIO

Christine Dunkel Schetter is a Distinguished Research Professor in the Department of Psychology at UCLA and an Adjunct Research Professor in the Research Center for Group Dynamics. She is Director of the NIMH pre and postdoctoral training program in Biobehavioral Issues in Mental and Physical Health, and a founder of the Health Psychology PhD program. She received her Ph.D. from Northwestern University and completed postdoctoral training at UC Berkeley with Dr. Richard Lazarus. Her broad research expertise is in stress, coping and social support in a variety of health and mental health contexts. Her primary program of research is on biopsychosocial processes in maternal and child health. She has contributed to research on social relationships and adjustment to cancer, coping with stress and social support in middle-aged couples, psychological adjustment to infertility, genetic screening for cystic fibrosis, and adjustment to HIV/AIDS.
